How to play
Each round serves you a single letter. Type any valid English word of three letters or more that begins with that letter, then press Enter. Every new, valid word counts once toward your target. Repeats and non-words are rejected — with a reason — so you lose nothing but a second of thinking.
Anything that is not a plain letter is removed before a word is checked, so capitals do not matter and can't is read as cant. Accented letters are removed too, which means café is checked as caf and rejected: type cafe instead. See our tested breakdown of every level.
The opponent
In Adventure, a cosmetic opponent races you to the same target. It is not reading your words; it simply works at a steady pace that gets quicker as the levels climb. When its bar fills, the round is over even if the clock still shows time: it finishes at 55 seconds on level 1 and at about 31 seconds on level 20. Reach the target first to advance; each level raises the number of words you need by one.
In 1v1 Live, your opponent is a real person. You both get the same letters at the same time, with a full sixty seconds a round and no word cap. Whoever finds more valid words wins the round, a tied round counts for no one, and after three rounds the player who has won more takes the match. Create a room, share the link, and challenge any friend.
A few tactics
- Lead with short words. Three-letter words score the same as long ones and arrive far faster.
- Do not pause to admire a clever word. Speed of typing beats length every time.
- Common letters reward broad vocabulary; rarer ones reward a few well-chosen anchors.
Want to get faster? The journal’s word lists and strategy pieces are built for exactly that.
Anonymous round statistics
When an Adventure round ends, the game records its letter, level, result, the words you found with their timings, and the spellings it rejected, so we can publish statistics about how the game is really played. Words from finished 1v1 matches are kept the same way. Nothing identifies you: no name, account, IP address or device details are stored, and offensive words are never saved. Browsers that send a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal are left out automatically. Privacy policy
