Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 2 August 2026
Effective: 2 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of
https://theverbarium.com (the “Site”),
including its articles, comment sections, player accounts, and the
Find the Word game at /play
(together, the “Service”).
By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them,
please stop using the Site.
1. Who we are
The Site is operated by:
- Kleoniq Kosova, operating as The Verbarium
- Pallatet Deli Jorgji, Tirana, Albania
- TheVerbarium@gmail.com
In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the above. “You” refers to
anyone using the Site.
2. Who may use the Service
The Service is intended for a general audience. You must be at least
13 years old to use it, or at least 16 if you
are in a country where that is the minimum age for consenting to online services.
If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only
with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
By using the Service you confirm that you meet these requirements, and that
you are not barred from using it under any applicable law or sanctions
programme.
3. The Service is free
The Site and the game are provided free of charge. There is nothing to buy,
we do not take payments, there are no subscriptions, and there are no virtual
currencies or paid items. The Service is supported by advertising (see
section 9).
Because the Service is free, we do not promise that it will always be
available, and we may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it — including
the game, accounts, or individual features — at any time. Where a change would
significantly affect existing accounts, we will give reasonable notice on the
Site where we can.
4. Our content and your use of it
4.1 What we own
All original material on the Site — the articles, the curated word lists and
their commentary, the strategy guides, the page designs, the letter-tile branding,
the site name, the game’s code and its interface — is owned by us or licensed to
us, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
Individual English words are, of course, not owned by anyone. What we claim is
our selection, arrangement, explanation and editorial commentary
around them, which is the result of our own work.
4.2 What you may do
You may read, print, and share links to our content for your own personal,
non-commercial use. You may quote short extracts for the purposes of comment,
criticism, review or news reporting, provided you credit The Verbarium and link
back to the original page.
4.3 What you may not do
Without our prior written permission, you must not:
- copy, republish, or redistribute our articles or word lists, in whole or in substantial part, on any other website, app, or platform;
- scrape, crawl, harvest or otherwise extract our content by automated means, including for the purpose of building a competing word list, dataset, or product;
- use our content to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine learning models;
- remove or obscure any copyright notice or attribution;
- use our name, branding or the appearance of the Site in a way that suggests an association or endorsement that does not exist.
4.4 Third-party word data
The game validates words against a public-domain English word list. Ownership
of the underlying language and of any public-domain lexicon is not claimed by us.
5. Player accounts
5.1 Creating an account
You can use the Site and play the game without an account. An account is
optional and exists so you can save progress across devices and play 1v1
matches.
When you create one you must give a valid email address and choose a display
name and password. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to
date. One person may hold one account; accounts are personal to you and may not
be sold, shared or transferred.
5.2 Keeping your account secure
You are responsible for your password and for everything that happens under
your account. Choose a password you do not use elsewhere. Tell us promptly at
TheVerbarium@gmail.com if you believe
your account has been accessed without your permission.
5.3 Display names
Your display name is visible to other players in 1v1 matches. It must not:
- impersonate another person, or imply that you are a member of our team;
- contain slurs, sexual content, or abuse directed at any person or group;
- contain advertising, URLs, or contact details;
- be chosen in order to harass a specific player.
We may change or reset a display name that breaks these rules, and may suspend
the account behind repeated breaches.
5.4 Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time from the
Account page. Deletion is
permanent and removes your progress and statistics; we cannot restore them
afterwards. Deleting your account does not automatically delete comments you
have already published — email us if you want those removed too.
6. Fair play in the game
The game is meant to test what is in your head against a clock. When using
Adventure or 1v1 Live, you must not:
- use bots, scripts, macros, solvers, anagram tools, browser extensions, or any automated assistance to generate or submit words;
- read, intercept or modify the game’s network traffic, word list, or stored state in order to gain an advantage;
- manipulate match results, deliberately disconnect to avoid a loss, or create additional accounts to inflate your own statistics;
- harass, abuse or attempt to identify another player.
We may reset statistics, void matches, restrict access to multiplayer, or
suspend or close accounts where we reasonably believe this section has been
broken.
7. Comments and anything else you post
7.1 Your responsibility
You are responsible for anything you post, including comments and messages
sent through the contact form. Do not post content that is unlawful, defamatory,
hateful, threatening, harassing, obscene, deceptive, infringes anyone’s
intellectual property, contains personal data about other people, or is spam or
unsolicited promotion.
7.2 The licence you give us
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting it, you grant us a
non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and
distribute it on the Site, and to quote it in future articles with attribution to
the name you posted under. This licence exists only so we can run and promote the
Site, and ends when the content is removed — except for copies already made in
backups or in the hands of third parties.
You confirm that you have the right to grant this licence.
7.3 Moderation
We are not obliged to monitor comments, but we may edit, refuse to publish, or
remove any comment at our discretion, with or without notice. Removing one
comment does not mean we have reviewed or endorsed any other.
8. Things you must not do to the Site
You must not:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its servers, its database, or any account that is not yours;
- probe, scan or test the security of the Site, or bypass any access control or rate limit;
- introduce malware, or any code intended to damage or disrupt the Site;
- place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, including through automated requests or denial-of-service attacks;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source of any part of the Service, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any sanctions or export control law.
9. Advertising
The Site is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertisements
are supplied by third parties and are not endorsements by us. We are not
responsible for the content of any advertisement or for anything you buy from an
advertiser; any such transaction is between you and them.
How advertising cookies work, and how to control them, is explained in our
Privacy Policy.
10. Links to other sites
The Site links to third-party websites, and its share buttons open third-party
platforms. We do not control those sites, do not endorse them, and are not
responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. Visiting them is at your
own risk and subject to their own terms.
11. Accuracy and no warranties
We put real work into getting our word lists and guides right. Even so, the
Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, and to the
fullest extent permitted by law we make no warranties of any kind, express or
implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular
purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
In particular, we do not warrant that:
- any word listed on the Site is valid in the dictionary or official lexicon used by any specific game — validity varies between lexicons and changes over time, and you should always check the official word list for the game you are playing;
- the Site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free of errors or bugs;
- any defect will be corrected, or that the Service will meet your requirements.
Nothing on the Site is professional, legal, educational, medical or financial
advice.
12. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal
injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or
for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or game progress;
- we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, from any content posted by another user, or from any dealings with an advertiser or third-party site;
- our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to EUR 100, reflecting that the Service is provided to you free of charge.
If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights, and
nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under the consumer
protection law of your country of residence.
13. Indemnity
If you use the Service in a way that breaks these Terms or the law, and that
causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to indemnify us
against the reasonable losses, damages and legal costs we incur as a result. This
does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or
negligence.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, or to any part of it,
if we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms, or where we must do so to
comply with the law or protect other users. Where it is reasonable to do so, we
will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
You may stop using the Service at any time, and may delete your account from
the Account page.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including
sections 4, 7.2, 11, 12, 13 and 15 — continue to apply afterwards.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Albania,
and the courts of Tirana, Albania have jurisdiction over any
dispute arising from them.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United
Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer
laws of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in the
courts there.
We would much rather resolve things directly. Please email
TheVerbarium@gmail.com before taking
any formal step.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Site develops or the law changes. The current
version will always be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If a
change materially affects your rights, we will make that clear on the Site.
Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated
Terms.
17. General
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours if the Site changes hands, provided your rights are not reduced.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Disclaimer, form the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Language. These Terms are written in English, and the English version prevails over any translation.
